For my entire life, I’ve had a love of books and reading, originating from when I was a child and my parents read to me. As I grew older, I developed a great fondness for mysteries – especially British mysteries. I was a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. I even had an authentic deerstalker hat and a Meerschaum pipe.
Today I enjoy reading just about any genre as long as the characters are interesting and the plots are intriguing. But hardboiled detective stories and crime novels are my favorites. I love the wise-cracking, cynical PIs; the sharp, witty dialog; and all the plot twists and turns. And writing in this genre is a lot of fun.
As for the typical biographical stuff – I grew up in Scottsboro, Alabama. I attended the University of Alabama where I earned degrees in Public Relations and Journalism. After college I joined the US Air Force and served for eight years as a KC-135 Stratotanker navigator. During my service I was stationed in Texas, California, and Okinawa Japan. Since leaving the USAF, my career has been in Information Technology. I currently live in Birmingham, Alabama, with my lovely wife, Rose, and a house full of dogs and cats – the number of which seems to vary from time-to-time, so I’ll just go with “numerous.”
